In The Cobra Shop

Thanks for dropping by the Shop! Here you’ll find progress reports on our member’s rides under construction and we invite you drop by often to see how things are coming along. We hope you’ll find our Shop interesting, informative and inspirational. These cars are being built by guys just like you. We encounter challenges from time to time like anyone else and you can see how we tackle these in completing the project.
We make every effort in updating the info on this page and if you come across a stalled project, we assume that the owner has ‘Gone Fishing’ and will continue soon. Please feel free to contact the individual members if you have any questions about our project cars…hang out a while and enjoy your visit!

Gary H's Cobra

Gary

Hi guys! This one is being finished off right now in Wolfzter’s Shop after sitting for too many years in my Garage. I wanted an authentic ride and spent the bucks on a 427 LeMans engine, Big-spline Toploader, Jaguar IRS and the proper wheels as a base line. It’s important for me to get the right ‘Feel’ and ‘Look’ of the car when it’s done and Wolf helped out in some updates and picking out the correct parts. We’re in the process of finishing up some details and hope to get it into the Paint Shop in the next few weeks. My biggest problem right now is deciding on the colour schemes…if you’re currently building your own then this is the kind of problem you’ll be looking forward to!

Wolf Z's Cobra

Thanks for your interest in my project, this one has a real story attached to it (like a lot of the others!). Being in the business for many years now, I decided some time ago that I should also build myself a car after selling my old Demo. I tried unsuccessfully to replace my old ride three times, every time I started the build I encountered a customer that was in a real hurry and so I sold them the one I was hoping to own myself. Business is business after all.

A smart idea came to mind after some frustrated hours…I will build something so weird and different that no one will want it! So, the concept of a Twin-Turbo FIA Cobra was born. This got crazier as I went along by building my own injection system, Intercoolers, Tilt Front End and some custom ‘goodies’ for maximum effect. I went at it and then lost momentum, yes it happens to guys like me as well.

With the Shop load finally getting more manageable (and my good friends always dropping by in their Cobra’s) it was time to stoke up the boiler once again and dust off my nemesis. Although the car had been sitting for many years, some one or something was making good use of it as evident by the mouse droppings and nut shells if came across. If it sits any longer I may as well convert it into a Rodent Hotel and charge rates to recover my investment!

That’s the story in a nutshell (no pun intended!) and now I’m falling in love all over again. It’s not a bad thing to walk away from your project for a bit and recover your enthusiasm…the end justifies the means.
